Josh Felver, PhD ABPP (pronouns he/him/his) is a New York State licensed psychologist with Board Certification in School Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).

Background: Dr. Felver (or Dr. Josh) was born in Cortland and grew-up outside of Syracuse. He went to college at the University of Rochester where he discovered his passion for working with youth. He completed his graduate training at the University of Oregon, his pre-doctoral internship at Boston Children’s Hospital (Harvard Medical School), and his post-doctoral fellowship at the Bradley School (Alpert Medical School of Brown University). In addition to his private practice in Ithaca, NY, he holds an appointment as an Associate Professor at Binghamton University’s Social Work Department, and a Courtesy Associate Professor at Cornell University’s Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research.
Clinical experience: Dr. Felver has over 20 years of experience as a clinician working with youth in outpatient mental health clinics, schools, community-based health centers, and hospitals. He has worked with youth and families across all levels of care (e.g., outpatient through inpatient) to address behavioral, mental health, and educational concerns. In addition to providing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), he has speciality expertise in mindfulness programs for youth.
Research experience: Dr. Felver’s program of research is focused on developing, implementing, and exploring biomechanisms (e.g., stress reactivity) of mindfulness-based programs in school and community settings to address health disparities in diverse and at-risk populations. He has published over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals (GoogleScholar profile), served as an Associate Editor for Mindfulness and the Journal of Child and Family Studies, received research funding from national (NIH) and foundational sponsors, and is the co-author of the book Mindfulness in the Classroom.
Personal interests: Dr. Felver enjoys spending his free time with his family exploring the outdoors; when not in the office he may be found splashing in local rivers looking for crawfish with his children or checking out new trails in local parks. His hobbies include disc golf, playing music, basketball, reading, cross-country skiing, coaching youth sports, and being present with his family and friends.
